Grimaldi places order for two more PCTCs

Brokers say Italian shipping group Grimaldi has ordered two more car carriers from Chinese yard Yangfan.

Options for two vessels have been converted into firm orders. The latest contracts are worth about US$120 million in total, brokers added. The vessels will be delivered in 2017. In June 2015, Grimaldi Group also ordered five pure car truck carriers (PCTCs) from Yangfan for US$300 million, also for 2017 delivery (New Ships 27/2015). In July, Grimaldi in addition placed an order with Chinese yard Jinling for three PCTCs (New Ships 29/2015). Grimaldi is said to still possess six options with Chinese yards for car carriers.
